Think of Eminence Points (EP) as experience for you, the player, whereas Experience Points (XP) are for your character.
Eminence is accumulated by demonstrating exceptional roleplay and are awarded by Dungeon Masters and fellow players. It can also be obtained by helping the Haze community. Points can be used to generate items for roleplay hooks, spawn placeables, summon monsters, give XP to other players, provide additional perks for in-game permissions, and unlock character customization options. EP carries over, so players maintain their Eminence even after a character's death.
⚔️ Eminence-related actions are located in the Eminence Wand.
It’s important to understand why certain classes, backstories, languages, and sub-races are locked behind EP:
EP can be acquired in a multitude of ways.
Source | EP Gain | Explanation |
---|---|---|
Dungeon Master (DM) Rewards | Varies | DMs can award EP for regular play, exceptional actions, or event participation, typically in 1-3-5 increments. Higher rewards may be given at the DMs' discretion for outstanding actions. |
Player Transfer | +1/-2 | You can transfer EP to a friend with a DM's help at a 2:1 rate—every 2 EP you give yields 1 EP for your friend. This should not be used to transfer all your EP. All transfers are under the discretion of the DM Team. |
Daily Login Reward | 1 | Can be claimed once per day for actively playing for at least 30 minutes a day, starting at midnight GMT. Inactive or AFK time is not included. |
Player Events | 3-5 | Awarded for scheduling player-run events via the Discord and getting several members in attendance to create a fun environment |
Creating in-game books | 0-5 | If you create an in-game book with original content explaining rituals, game mechanics events or other topics in-character, and it is added to the permanent bookshelf by the DM team, you may be eligible for an EP reward. |
Referral bonus | 10 | If you refer someone to Haze and they play at least a week with 12 or more hours recorded, you are eligible for referral credit. |
Eminence points can be spent in a variety of ways, either during character creation, or inside the world of Haze to influence the world, enrich player experiences and leave a lasting legacy on the world.
Below is a collection of different ways EP can be spent inside of Haze.

Certain playable races are locked behind EP, and others will incur additional ECL.
ECL (Equivalent character level) adjusts the XP systems' treatment of your character, slowing XP gain without changing level-up requirements. For instance, a level 2 fighter with ECL+2 is treated as a level 4 for XP calculations, and rewards.
See Races & Subraces for more information about all races.

Some languages are limited by EP to keep them appropriately rare and to ensure that some lore elements of Haze are not instantly accessible.
Languages that cost EP do not fall within the limitations of language points during character creation. They can be unlocked with EP without having to spend a language point.
See Languages of Faerûn for more information on languages.

As a general practice, we do not issue refunds for EP under normal circumstances. However, if you are experiencing serious personal or health-related issues, the DM team reserves the right to review your situation and, at their discretion, grant exceptions on a case-by-case basis. In order to qualify for this, you should communicate with the DM team before any extended absences or other issues come up.
