"In Dungeons & Dragons, spell components aren't just magical ingredients; they're like the threads of the arcane tapestry. Wizards and sorcerers use these cosmic fragments to expand their magical abilities. True power isn't about casting many spells but about tapping into deeper sources."
Both wizards and sorcerers in HAZE should focus on developing their Spellcraft skill. The system is dynamic and subject to adjustments during testing phases to ensure a balanced and engaging magical experience.
Wizards in HAZE use a Grimoire and a non-removable component pouch. The process involves:
Component Preparation: Wizards refer to their Grimoire to identify necessary components for each spell. After gathering these components, they store them in their pouch.
Spellcraft Check: When casting a spell requiring specific components, wizards make a Spellcraft check. The Difficulty Class (DC) for this check is 16 + (2 x spell level). A successful check means the spell is cast without expending a spell slot, though components are used. A failed check results in the loss of the spell slot, but components are retained.
This feature allows wizards to cast any 1st-level or higher spell from their Grimoire as a ritual:
Note: This feature is in testing and subject to change or removal.
Sorcerers, as innate spellcasters, follow a different system:
Manifest Bloodline: This ability reduces the sorcerer's Constitution by 1 (not restorable until resting) and generates a pool of essence based on a spellcraft roll. (max 10 can be held at once)
Channel Essence I-III: This ability allows sorcerers to convert essence into spell slots at a rate of 1 essence per slot level, accessible through the "Channel Essence" feats.
This is intended to show the sorcerers innate connection with their body, and not needing to put the effort in to gain components the same way wizards need to.
4th circle spells for -all- classes have mandatory components. These spell slots have no way of being recovered, and once cast, the components are consumed and slot is spent until rest.
