"In the unforgiving lands of Dungeons & Dragons, a brave heart's beat can be as fickle as a dice roll. But let not the specter of death dismay you. For in the dance between life and death, every adventurer finds their true grit. Bleed, but never bow, for a true hero's spirit never dies."
Death has been modified on Haze and does not merely occur when a character hits 0 Hit Points
. At 0 HP
, a character will fall prone and will be unable to move or take action. It then "bleeds out" periodically, moving closer to death at -2 HP every 15-25 seconds. However, there is a small chance you will stabilize and begin to recover HP.
Near-Death Trauma: When you bleed out and get saved by somebody, your body will need time to heal. This means you won't be able to run about or fight until you completely recover.
Are some of the effects of near-death trauma.
At -25 HP
, characters suffer Permadeath and travel to The Fugue Plane, where there is no escape. It is now time to log out, take a deep breath, and consider writing up a new player character.
If you are ever hit with enough damage that would outright kill you, taking you below -22, you will be stopped at -22, giving your friends a few rounds to attempt to save your life.
In almost all instances, your character's death is final (see Permadeath). Players can petition Dungeon Masters if they consider a wrongful death due to exceptional or unusual circumstances beyond their control. However, manage your expectations for timely case resolution.
Be aware that Dungeon Masters employ an audit system that can review server artifacts to verify claims. Still, it is vital to take screenshots and maintain chat logs, particularly when PvP Misconduct is involved.
"Running to the kitchen to turn off your kettle will not result in the restoration of a player character."
If you are slowly "bleeding out" and would like to speed up the process, you can use the chat command !suicide
to end your character immediately.
Logging out, while bleeding, no matter the circumstances, will always result in Permadeath. There is no reliable way to determine if you logged out while bleeding due to trying to stop the bleeding, potential abuse, or a network outage.
You will be sent to the Fugue.
