"From scales and hides to venom and bone, the creatures of Narumer hold countless treasures. Alchemists, leatherworkers, and blacksmiths alike can find use for nearly every part of the beasts you fell in your travels."
Across Narumer, most creatures you encounter can be harvested for useful materials once defeated.
In most cases, you will need a harvesting knife to perform the task. However, certain creatures may require specialized tools, such as a pickaxe to break down a stony elemental or crystalline shell.
The skill required to harvest from a creature is determined by its default creature type, though individual parts may require different skills if a builder chooses. The majority of harvesting follows this breakdown:
When you attempt to harvest, the system rolls a d100 for each possible item in the creature’s carcass. This roll is then modified by several factors:
If the modified d100 result is equal to or less than the target value, the part becomes available for harvesting.
Even if a part is available in the carcass, you must still succeed on the harvest check to collect it.
Failure destroys the item. This check typically uses the same skills listed above, though builders may assign a different skill if it makes sense for the part.
In some cases, you must also have an appropriate collection item to attempt the harvest. For example, harvesting blood requires an empty vial to store it.
